Aurora's Kennel

You are walking down the street when, you hear a dog howl. You turn your head and look at the dog kennel. You see a girl holding the leash of a old dog. She is crying as she locks the door. You go to her and ask what is wrong. She says "I am being forced to close my doors. I can no longer afford to be a kennel." The girl wipes her tears and starts walking away. You touch her arm and ask about the dogs. She answers with a hurt smile, "I found homes for all of the dogs but this old guy." She pets the dog. "No one seems to want an older dog, who is blind." You bend down and put your hand in front of its nose. The dog sniffs your hand then licks it and wags it tail briefly. The girl says "he likes you, but we have to go now." She turns on her heels and starts for her car. You watch the dog walk away and your heart lurches. You call out "Wait, I will take him. I will be his home." She stops and hands you the lead. She kisses the dog good-bye and wishes you the best. She gets in her car and drives out of sight. You sigh as you look down at your new friend. You smile as he does and begin to go back home.
