Welcome!

Golden Wattle is currently home to Shikoku, Kai Ken,and Akita Inu lines. I love spitz-types, and I use the native Japanese breeds as the main focus of the kennel with plans to add the Ainu Dog and Shiba Inu in the future. I started with the Shikoku project in 2018 as it was a "breed in need" at the time, but went on a long hiatus from FP shortly after the project started. I picked up the project again when I returned in 2023 and finally finished it in August 2024! They are the main breed in my kennel. I also keep a variety of other breeds on my second property so I’m not too restricted in what sports and stats I can play around with.

Generational Notes

G1:Dogs bought at random from the store (no retries for better genes). Bred with the “worst to best” pairing method, but no attention to litter size or stats.
G2:Generation contained 5 storebought dogs. Many were bred back to G1 dogs due to the Male:Female ratio.
G3:First generation after hiatus. Finally started considering litter size genes.
G4:First 0hh dog born. Decided to work towards chax4 but would later change this. Beginning to attempt securing aptitudes. The generation was split into two for breeding: HT/Fr/M aptitudes and charisma carriers.
G5:Downsized to a smaller generation. First generation to have no “l” litter size genes.
G6:Swapped focus to Schutzhund and inx4 as both traits were a lot more prevalent in this gen and the previous. It’s only a 2 stat sport for them, but I figure if it’s offered for them I might as well, I like the challenge!
G7:Almost all dogs trained in Schutzhund, beginning F:U tracking for future reference.
G8:Two intx4 pups born. Nearly 80% of dogs have Sc aptitude.
G9:First generation to hit/exceed 20HH. Kept fewer pups for this generation as I didn’t want below-15HH dogs and some litters were…not great for that lol.
G10:Hoped to get a random 24HH this gen but didn’t happen. Used this generation to eliminate all hh. First generation to have 0hh total.
G11:Blessed this generation as "phoenix fodder" to increase the XPM slightly for the next generation. They were registered and bred around level 12-13. Used this gen to fix the stat situation a bit more.
G12:Finally hit 24HH! Six 24HH pups were kept for this generation, with even some more born that weren’t kept due to a lack of aptitude or no int. Kept exactly 20 dogs so the whole generation could be blessed and at least 1 pup was picked from each litter, so lots of cuts were made. XPMs around 1.062x, all dogs received 2 salmon biscuits and 1 salmon patty at age 12. All have Schutzhund aptitude. They will be bred at the end of their career to start working on levels and aptitudes and will mark the end of milling for this project :)

Rules: Start from store bought, no outside studs/purchases, fix HH in groups (6HH hips first, then 6HH elbows, 6HH eyes, 6HH ears)

Generational Notes

G1:I was somewhat selective while buying these from the store, only keeping dogs that carried -la. I got pretty lucky during this and got a lot of dogs with lala without needing to buy too many. Bred to maximise lala.
G2:lala nearly secured. Kept more females than males to increase generation size in G3.
G3:All dogs now lala. Reached a comfortable generation size. Breeding with the goal of securing stm4 next.
