ABOUT EYE TOOTH KENNEL
Eye Tooth Kennels (I2TH) was founded in June '23 with one goal in mind: breeding top-of-the-line working border collies. An 'eye tooth' is a canine tooth (more formally known as the cuspid). The term 'canine tooth' alludes to the taxonomic family canidae, notable for their long "fang-like" teeth. Dogs are members of this family, which is why they are often referred to as "canines." The name Eye Tooth Kennels also relates to perhaps the most defining characteristic of the border collie's herding technique: "the eye." Border collies are prized for their ability to move entire flocks of sheep with no physical force; the focused stare or "strong eye" of a border collie capitalizes on the sheep's prey-instincts, causing them to move away from the perceived threat. In this way, border collies move sheep calmly and effectively without any harm to the sheep or the dog.

In August '23, Eye Tooth Kennels expanded its focus from solely border collies. We began working on a line of Bouvier des Flandres dogs as a side project. Our bouvies are bred and trained to excel in schutzhund trials.

Why does this kennel have such an intense focus on working dogs? I believe that associations such as the AKC are effectively ruining dogs as we know them. The AKC prioritizes conformation (appearance) over the health, capability, and wellbeing of dogs. The beloved pug and bulldog breeds suffer severely from brachycephalic airway obstructive syndrome, but struggling to merely breathe is considered 'correct' and desirable by AKC standards. The bulldog even has difficulties breeding naturally, and requires a c-section to give birth! The AKC not only rewards this, but profits from it at the expense of the dogs. Dogs are the oldest domesticated animal, and in the 15,000+ year history that dogs and humans have shared, dogs have always been bred for specific functions. Certain sports may have fallen out of favor (e.g. bullbaiting), but there's plenty more activities modern dog breeders can strive to compete in. Intelligence, health, and physical ability fall by the wayside the moment conformation becomes a breeding goal. I breed dogs for function, and the function of the border collie is herding sheep.

KENNEL CUSTOMS
The Eye Tooth Legacy - Border Collies
Dogs with the prefix I2TH are legacy dogs, descended from the litters of my imported parental generation: Sweet Sugar Maple "Mae," Nothing Gold Can Stay "Green," Flutter By Butterfly "Moth," and Smart Aleck "Al." While I do incorporate new blood into my legacy to freshen the gene pool, these dogs' ancestry can still be traced back to my parental generation of border collies.

The Eye Tooth Legacy - Bouvier des Flandres
As with the border collies, bouvies with the prefix I2TH are also legacy dogs. However, since this is a side project, this line tends to be smaller and thus progresses slower. All legacy bouvies are descended from my imported parental generation: Blueprint "Blue," Caldera Complex "Cal," Last Night's Love Affair "Marina," and White Winter Hymnal "Wint."

Services I Offer
- I offer a free spreadsheet and guide for tracking and comparing your dogs' genotypes, stats, progress, health, and more. You can find the link here.
- I offer custom-made layouts for kennel About pages, which I tried to make affordable for most users. To learn more about purchasing a layout, click this link. [CLOSED]

General Practices
- I rarely lock my dogs; I prefer a more chronological approach to this game. If my dogs are locked, it likely means I won't be around for a few days
- All border collies are trained in herding
- All bouvies are trained in schutzhund
- Upgraded leashes and collars are equipped every 5-10 level-ups
- Food assignments are based on stats and updated every 5-10 level-ups
- Dogs are generally retired at 110 days of age
- You may see other breeds in my kennels from time to time. These 'pet projects' represent me exploring other sports and genetics on FP

Breeding Practices
- Females are generally bred once at 80-90 days old, then again at 90-110 days old
- Females are bred no more than twice
- Dogs are not bred to immediate relatives (e.g. mother x son)
- Dogs are not bred before the age of 70 days, with few exceptions
- Dogs with 'poor' health ratings are pet-homed and never sold
- My females will never be available on the public breeding listings, however, I may be open to the possibility if you shoot me a private message

Competition Hosting
- I2TH owns six 3-star training areas dedicated to schutzhund and herding
- Competitions are hosted daily
- Pricing is almost always a $50 entrance fee, with a prize pot of $900
- Our three herding training areas are biased toward agility, intelligence, and stamina respectively
- Our three schutzhund training areas are biased toward intelligence, stamina, and strength respectively
STUDDING POLICIES SALE POLICIES
Studding Guidelines
[1] I do not accept requests from unregistered females (thus, females require a minimum level of 5)
[2] I do not accept requests from females who have had 2 or more litters
[3] I do not blacklist rejected breeding requests (easy mistake!); you are free to send another, but if you do not follow the guidelines you will continue to get rejected
[4] If you haven't completed the breeding within 48 hours of it being accepted, your request will be canceled.

Female Level Requirements
- Studs level 20+ require a minimum level of 5
- Studs level 40+ require a minimum level of 10
- Studs level 60+ require a minimum level of 15
- Studs level 80+ require a minimum level of 20
- Studs level 100+ require a minimum level of 25

Misc. Studding Info
- Studs are made available once they reach level 20
- Not necessary, but I would appreciate the option of SPoL; if I choose a puppy I will refund your stud fee

Stud Pricing
- Stud prices are rounded to the nearest 10
- Studs under level 40 are priced as (XPM x 100) x HH (e.g. a level 20, 12HH, 1.68 XPM stud costs $2,020)
- Studs level 40-49 are priced as (XPM x 400) x HH
- Studs level 50-59 are priced as (XPM x 500) x HH
- Studs level 60-69 are priced as (XPM x 6,000) x HH
- Studs level 70-79 are priced as (XPM x 7,000) x HH
- Studs level 80-89 are priced as (XPM x 80,000) x HH
- Studs level 90-99 are priced as (XPM x 90,000) x HH
- Studs level 100+ are priced as (XPM x 100,000) x HH
Terms of Purchase
[1] Do not breed females more than 3x
[2] Do not "flip" my dogs- buying just to sell them at a higher price
[3] Please care for and compete with the dog regularly, or lock if you don't have time
[4] If you wish to sell the dog, please offer me the right of first refusal; I may be willing to work out a fair price to buy the dog back
note: depending on the nature of the violation, failure to abide by these terms may result in blacklisting

Seller Practices
- I only do private/transfer sales; this reflects the time, effort, and money I've put into FP
- I don't often sell dogs, and I rarely sell puppies
- I do kennel checks before selling a dog to anyone; if [a] your dogs are cared for (or locked), [b] your dogs are actively trained and entered in competitions (or locked), and [c] your females are not overbred (bred more than 3x), then you've passed your kennel check!
- I occasionally do kennel checks after selling a dog, mostly to check up on the dog's progress
- Prices may be negotiable, provided you're polite and respectful about it

Sale Pricing
- Dogs are priced on a combo of 2 factors: XPM and genetic traits
- These 2 factors are multiplied together to determine a dog's actual price
Determining Base Prices (BP)
- Base prices vary depending on a dog's XPM and level
- Base pricing is calculated from the following formulae:
~ Dogs level 1-19: BP = XPM x 1,000
~ Dogs level 20-39: BP = XPM x 2,000
~ Dogs level 40-59: BP = XPM x 40,000
~ Dogs level 60-79: BP = XPM x 60,000
~ Dogs level 80-99: BP = XPM x 800,000
~ Dogs level 100-110: BP = XPM x 1,000,000

Quanitfying Genotypes
- This aspect of pricing is based on the summation of quantities assigned to various genetic traits
- If a dog's genetic trait sum equals a negative number, the dog will be listed at its base price
- Health-related traits are quanitifed as follows:
~ If dog has 1-6 HH: +10
~ If dog has 7-12 HH: +20
~ If dog has 13-18 HH: +30
~ If dog has 19-23 HH: +40
~ If dog has 24 HH: +60
~ If dog has 1-6 hh: -20
~ If dog has 7-12 hh: -40

- Litter-related traits are quanitfied as follows:
~ Per la allele: +50
~ Per l allele: -50

- Boost-related traits are quantified as follows:
~ Per homozygous stat boost: +10
~ Per booster used: +40

EXAMPLE PRICING: A level 28 dog for sale has a 1.4 XPM. Its genotype includes 13 HH, 1 hh, Lla, and stmstm. Its price is calculated in the following steps:

1) Calculate base price: 1.4 x 2,000 = 2,800
2) Quantify health traits: 30 - 20 = 10
3) Quantify litter traits: 50
4) Quantify boost traits: 10
5) Sum genetic trait quantities: 10 + 50 + 10 = 70
6) Multiply genetic trait sum by base price: 2,800 x 70 = $196,000

ABOUT SOFA
Below are some photos of my dog, the love of my life. Her name is Maple, Mae for short. This dog makes up half my personality and most of my waking thoughts. She's gotten me through some of the worst times in my life. I WOULD DIE FOR HER. I mean, who wouldn't? Look at that face!

53003165664_6ca454c314_k.jpg53003165664_6ca454c314_k.jpg53003165664_6ca454c314_k.jpg

Some quick facts about me...
- 22 y/o girl from the Mid-Atlantic region of the USA
- Currently working toward becoming a licensed speech-language pathologist
- Advanced-intermediate Spanish speaker; always looking for a practice buddy!
- I enjoy knitting, felting, birdwatching, word puzzles, and coloring books
- I'm a peaceful sim gamer; if I can "die" in a videogame, I probably won't like it. ACNH and TS4 are my go-tos
- Dungeons & Dragons player
- I LOVE cartoons; some favorites include American Dad, Adventure Time, Regular Show, Futurama, and Steven Universe
- I've played many browser-based animal sims in the past, including K-9 Game, Virtual Pups, Pure Felinity, Howrse, and Lioden; I'm no longer active on most of these websites, though I pop in on Lioden occasionally
- I had an account on FP many years ago, but the login info was lost to time lol
- Mostly interested in FP for the genetic aspect; I think genes and (responsible) selective breeding are so cool!

I've loved border collies ever since I got Maple- my little red dog. She's what inspired me to delve into the history and abilities of BCs. I never got the chance to put Mae on sheep, and at her age of 9, I don't think I want to. Still, it's a dream of mine. To keep her brain busy, Mae and I work on non-competitive agility occasionally. We also play lots of fetch, tug-o-war, and toy hide-and-seek! :)

I tend to ignore friend requests, especially if we've never interacted before, and I don't accept friend requests from people I perceive to be minors. I have nothing against being friends with kids irl, but I don't think it's appropriate for children to be "friends" with adult strangers online. I was once a child with unrestricted access to the internet, and there was a lot of weirdos out there whose friendliness toward me was anything but innocent. If you're a kid reading this, please be cautious and use common sense! If someone you've met online makes you uncomfortable, fearful, or pressures you in any way, take screenshots and speak with a trusted adult. Stay safe!

I'm a bit of a hermit irl, not to mention I have my career to focus on. I live with my boyfriend and a roommate, but otherwise I keep my circle small. That is to say, I'm going to be a bit flakey when it comes to socializing on this site. It's not that I don't want to make friends, it's that I'm a hardcore introvert, mentally ill, and very tired.
