About Our Kennels

Halcyon Hounds, represented by the /H prefix, was founded in the year 2010. For its first year, we operated as all-breeds kennel by the name of Shoreside Seraphs. It was only in 2011 when we realized that sighthounds were our calling.

Halcyon Hounds is a kennel that specializes in breeding and competing star-quality Ibizan Hound, Azawakh Hound, Basenji, and Sloughi dogs. The kennel does not currently breed for any color lines, but rather for dogs in the 12-24HH (It stands for Halcyon Hounds too!) range.

In order to produce high quality sighthounds, we do not believe in breeding our dams more than two-three times in their lifetime. The two times go by the general age 88 and 100 rule. We also do not breed below level 30, and higher levels are preferred. While we do rescue some sighthounds and act as their forever home, we choose to discontinue breeding lines with "fair" or "poor" genetics.
